There is a definite chill in the air and that can only mean one thing- winter is coming! Winter is a beautiful season to plan a wedding. Besides the change in landscape, a change in bridal fashion occurs as well, making now a perfect time to wear sleeves. Bridal gowns with sleeves have become quite popular over the past couple of years, an insurgence often credited to the Grace Kelly-inspired gown Kate Middleton wore on her wedding day to Prince William (three years ago- can you believe it?!). More and more brides are now looking for other styles besides the usual strapless gown.
Due to lower temperatures, sleeves just seem more appropriate on a wedding gown, and are as fashionable as they can be functional. Depending on the length and material, they can also be worn any time of the year. Here are some lovely gowns that just might inspire you done some sleeves on your wedding day!
It used to be common, if not expected, for a bride to wear a full-sleeved dress. While bridal fashion rules are far more flexible now (really, almost anything goes!), many are seeking out full sleeves again for a classic look. Sleeves are now made in a variety of materials, the most common being lace. There are tons of absolutely gorgeous options out there that make full sleeves modern and chic, and not so restrictive.
If you’re looking for some coverage but don’t want material all the way down to your wrists, you can find a dress with slightly shorter sleeves, such as three-quarter. This length is also very flattering on many women, as it hits at a length that elongates and slims your arms.
Shorter sleeves may not seem all that practical for winter, but you can always layer up with a classy overlay to keep yourself from getting chilled and take it off inside later. If you want to showcase your arms and shoulders, this is the perfect length for you.
